Ways to Give

Support the Sigma Kappa Foundation by making a gift. Whether $10, $100, or $10,000 or a commitment to be filled in the future through an estate gift, a donation to the PULSE fund (annual fund), a specific scholarship, or a philanthropic initiative - the bottom line is that every gift counts, regardless of size or designation.

Corporate Matching Gifts

Many companies offer matching gift programs as well as payroll deduction options for employees who make charitable contributions for more information and to see if your employer participates in these programs visit our Matching Gifts page.  Email or call Caren Chopp, Director of Operations at 317-381-5531, if you have questions.

Planned Giving—Join our Horizon Society

Planned gifts allow you to give back in a way that is meaningful to you, and also can help you prepare for your future. For example, planned gifts can offer you income, gift and estate tax deductions and provide favorable capital gains tax opportunities. For more information on a legacy gift/planned giving strategy, please contact Lisa Swiontek, Foundation Executive Director. The Horizon Society honors those who have designated a planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation.

Social Media Fundraisers

Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms have fundraising features which allow users to organize fundraisers to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  These platforms do not provide donor information to the beneficiary (neither about the host nor the supporters).  In an effort that we may recognize your contribution, we ask that if you set up a fundraiser, please notify the Foundation at

Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) from IRA Assets

Seniors can benefit by donating their Individual Retirement Account RMDs to a qualified charitable organization; it’s a win/win for the donor and the organization.  Generally, distributions are counted as taxable income, but by donating them directly to the charitable organization, they are excluded from personal income. Please consult your tax professional for advice and then contact Lisa Swiontek, Foudnation Executive Director, to coordinate the donation of funds.

Gifts of Stock

Gifts of appreciated securities enable you to make a significant contribution while avoiding capital gains taxes on the donated shares. Please contact Lisa Swiontek, Foundation Executive Director, to set up the gift of a transfer.

Endowment Gifts

Endowment gifts provide a lasting source of support for Sigma Kappa and its members. By creating an endowment, you can pay tribute to a loved one or honor your own Sigma Kappa experience. These funds are managed by the Foundation and require a minimum amount, currently $25,000 to establish.  Individual endowments are invested with the Sigma Kappa endowment and exist in perpetuity, allowing the donor to have a significant impact for generations to come. Endowments can be funded over a number of years. Endowment contacts are provided an annual report each fall.

Many chapters have established endowments.  If your chapter has an established fund, you can contribute directly to that fund; however, if an endowment has not been created, we can help establish one.

There are several types of scholarships and grants you may create as an endowed fund. Examples include:

  • Academic scholarships for chapter members
  • Funding for educational leadership programming
  • Emergency grants for individual members

For additional information contact Lisa Swiontek, Foundation Executive Director.

Tribute Gifts

Gifts may be made in honor or memory of a sister, family member or loved one.

 Gifts of Time + Talents

Volunteer opportunities—if you are ready to give of your time

Foundation volunteers use their time and talent to help individuals and chapters support the Foundation or thank them for doing so. Volunteers share the awe-inspiring stories of impact that donors have made on our members’ lives through various educational programs, academic scholarships or leadership development opportunities. If you are ready to donate your time to support the Foundation’s work, please contact Caren Chopp, Director of Operations.
