Bylaws Updates

The convention body approved a complete revision of the Sigma Kappa Bylaws to incorporate changes needed for the shift of national council to a governance structure as well as the recommendations following a lengthy review under the lens of diversity, equity, inclusion and access. A few highlights are below. The updated Bylaws document will be available in The Learning Center in early August.

  • A revised purpose statement.
  • A shift in governance models for national council – the council is composed of the national president, national vice president for finance and six general vice presidents – all focused on the strategic direction of the organization.
  • A shift in alumnae chapter officer roles to three required officers: president, vice president of programming and vice president of finance.
  • A required diversity, equity, inclusion and access (DEIA) chair for collegiate chapters, a title change from vice president of membership to vice president of recruitment and the ability to elevate chair positions to executive council.
