What are the age and eligibility requirements?
You have to be under the age of 35 as of 12/31/21. This means you were born in or after 1986. If you are currently 36 years old or older you are ineligible to make the list.
Do you have to be a member of Sigma Kappa?
Yes. All honorees must be a member of Sigma Kappa in good standing. This means you cannot be withdrawn or expelled from Sigma Kappa.
Why 35?
We hope that you have made strides in your career or volunteer work that will inspire our members. You still have the opportunity to grow and perhaps achieve the distinction of being a Colby award recipient.
If I’m a collegiate member, can I be an honoree?
Can a member make the list multiple times?
No, former honorees are ineligible regardless of whether they have changed titles, companies or have recently graduated.
What if I don’t know all the information to complete the form?
All the required fields need to be filled out and you should provide everything you know about your nominee. There is no save and exit option. Come prepared to submit all at once!
Who should write the letter of support?
The letter of support can be from a peer, colleague, employer, professor, etc. It’s important to have a variety of materials for our committee to review. Please keep the letter of support to one page.
Can the letter of support be written by the nominator?
Yes, unless you are nominating yourself.
Does a nominator have to be a member of Sigma Kappa?
No. Friends of Sigma Kappa, colleagues, employers, etc. are welcome to nominate a Sigma Kappa for this award.
How is the final list chosen?
Honorees are selected by a committee of members and staff based on the answers to the application below. The committee is comprised of members of Sigma Kappa. They may be past board members, Colby Award winners, past staff members, current staff members, volunteers, and members at large.
Who owns the nominations?
Once you click submit, the nomination becomes the property of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
What is the timeline for nominations?
The nomination form is open October 1, 2020 and will close on December 17, 2020, at 11:59pm EST.
What is the deadline to apply?
All nominations must be submitted by December 17 at 11:59pm EST. No nominations submitted after this deadline will be considered.
When will honorees be notified?
35 Under 35 honorees will be notified by March 1.
What happens if a member is not selected?
If a member is not selected for the 35 under 35 award, she can re-submit the next year if she is still under the age of 35. If you are not selected, or if your nominee is not selected, you will be notified by March 5, 2021.
What does a member receive if selected as a 35 Under 35 honoree?
35 under 35 honorees will be featured in the Sigma Kappa Triangle along with the 2021 honoree class. Honorees may be asked to participate in various Sigma Kappa platforms such as writing for the Sigma Kappa blog, participating in a podcast episode, or asked to facilitate a program on behalf of Sigma Kappa.
