The sisters of Gamma Upsilon, California University of Pennsylvania, have relied on the advice and guidance of advisor Angela Swallop Saunders, Gamma Upsilon, for several years. In the wake of a serious accident this winter, the Gamma Upsilon collegians were able to repay her by showing that in times of hardship, the true nature of sisterhood shines through.

On the afternoon of February 4, 2009, Angela was driving in a southbound lane of a country road near Connellsville, Pennsylvania, when she lost control of her car and struck a concrete barrier, then a traffic light pole. Although nearly every bone in both her legs was shattered, she had no internal injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

From the moment Angela was admitted to the hospital, her Sigma Kappa sisters were a constant presence at Angela's side, bringing her homemade foods, pictures, presents and just stopping by to say hello. Because she was not able to attend Gamma Upsilon's formal in March, they even held a mini formal for her in her hospital room, dressing her up like a princess, playing music, and giving her a manicure. These Gamma Upsilon collegians and alumnae prove that sisterhood is a bond only strengthened by adversity.
